Celebrate the arrival of spring at Blists Hill Victorian Town, Ironbridge

For a historical take on spring celebrations, enter the Victorian town of Blists Hill, one of the 10 Ironbridge Gorge Museums, over the Bank Holiday Weekend of 5th – 7th May.

Families are invited to join the townsfolk on The Green and try their skills at some traditional Victorian games including quoits, walking with stilts and skipping.

Elsewhere the townsfolk will be busy sprucing up their houses now the finer days have arrived, as well as making ‘May Baskets’, which is the art of decorating a gift basket with flowers and ribbons for friends and neighbours. They will also be arranging spring flower displays and pressing colourful blooms to keep for winter, when spring will be just a memory.
