ONE WEEK TO GO - TOP TIPS FOR TALL SHIPS VISITORS

With just one week to go until Sunderland hosts the UK’s largest free family festival, The Tall Ships Races, organisers have issued top tips for visitors.

From 10-14 July, more than 50 ships from around the world will form the highlight of The Tall Ships Races Sunderland 2018.

And, with around 1.5m people expected to visit the city for a five-day festival of music, circus, theatre and entertainment, planning is essential to make the most of the event.

The final countdown has begun for The Tall Ships Races Sunderland 2018.

From 10-14 July, the city of Sunderland will host the UK’s largest, free family event: a five-day festival of beautiful ships, circus, theatre and music The Tall Ships Races Sunderland 2018!

And with just one month to go, organisers have revealed the scale of the event in numbers – and the economic impact it is expected to have on the city.

Fifty-five ships from 16 countries are now making final preparations before setting sail for Sunderland –  with one ship, the Tarangini, facing a 3,600-nautical mile journey.

From brass bands to Bollywood - Sunderland welcomes the tall ships

A RAFT of live music – from brass bands to Bollywood - has been unveiled as part of The Tall Ships Races Sunderland 2018.

Up to 1.5m people are expected to head to Sunderland from 11 to 14 July for the four-day festival, featuring 55 sailing ships from around the world.

And, along with spectacular circus acts – including a high wire crossing of the River Wear – orchestras, bands, choirs and dance companies have also been signed up to take part.
