Cofton Holidays launches new range of pet-friendly cottages

Award-winning Cofton Holidays launches new range of pet-friendly cottages in South Devon

South Devon’s multi-award winning holiday park, Cofton Holidays, has unveiled a range of new pet-friendly cottages for 2019.

Located near the pretty coastline at Dawlish Warren, the two bedroom Horseshoe cottage and the three bedroom Coaching House, Primrose and Honeysuckle cottages sit next to 50 acres of woodland on the holiday park’s Eastdon Estate. Each caters for up to two dogs, meaning guests can enjoy a memorable holiday, free from the stress and fees of kennels.

The launch of Cofton’s canine holiday cottages comes after the demand for pet-friendly holidays has risen in recent years. Last year, research from American Express showed that 27% of UK dog owners expected to take their dogs on holiday with them*.

Arriving at Horseshoe cottage, guests will be greeted by a ground floor that has been fitted with hard wooden flooring, perfect for cleaning up after country walks and seaside dips. An open plan living / dining area, furnished with comfy sofas and seats plus elegant coffee and dining tables, provides plenty of space to relax in. The large French doors flood the room with natural light and can be thrown open on warm days, allowing dogs to go in and out to an enclosed back yard as they please. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher and washing machine plus high-end fixtures and fittings.

Sleeping up to four guests, one bedroom is located on the ground floor and is furnished with a comfy double bed made up with luxury Egyptian Cotton bed linen. Upstairs, visitors will discover the master bedroom with a super king bed, the perfect country hideaway. Each bedroom comes with drawers or cupboards as well as side tables and stylish bedside lamps.

The Coaching House, Primrose and Honeysuckle cottage each have three bedrooms and sleep up to six guests. These homes have also been fitted with hard wooden flooring on the ground floor and come with handy fully-fitted kitchens, the perfect home away from home.

Inside The Coaching House, which sleeps up to six, guests can choose from the super king bedroom, twin bedroom on the first floor or the king bedroom on the ground floor. The cottage also has an open plan living / dining area with views out onto the Exe Estuary.

Visitors will discover an unusual but spacious layout inside the six-person, pet-friendly Primrose cottage, with a twin bedroom on the upper floor, one double bedroom on the lower floor and another double on the ground floor. Both Primrose and The Coaching House feature a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, perfect to unwind in after a busy day of exploring.

On the first floor of Honeysuckle cottage, guests will discover one super king and one twin bedroom plus a shower room. Stepping down to the ground floor, you will find a king size bedroom and the family bathroom. Little touches that make your stay all the more memorable include prints of South Devon painted by renowned local artists Becky Bettesworth and Laura Wall.

Each home on the Eastdon Estate enjoys impressive views of nearby woodland, rolling fields and the dramatic Exe Estuary. Inside each idyllic cottage, guests will discover a welcome pack filled with handy gear including dog food and water bowls, a mat, blanket and Dog in pet-friendly cottagehandmade local treats. After enjoying a good walk in the nearby Eastdon woods or along the year-round pet-friendly section of the blue flag beach at Dawlish, guests can return to their cottage, knowing that they can easily dry off their pet and treat them to a treat from the hamper.

The Eastdon Estate is set away from the main park, yet close enough to enjoy its events and facilities. The park is easily accessible via a pretty woodland walk, perfect for dogs and their owners to stretch their legs.

Arriving at the main site, guests will find a range of dog-friendly facilities across the award-winning holiday park.

The Swan Inn, Cofton’s very own traditional pub, welcomes dogs both inside and out. There’s a selection of dog treats on the bar and the pub even serves doggy ice cream. Created by Waggy Doggy Doodah, this special ice cream is made from fresh fruit and veg and contains no refined sugar, artificial flavours, colours or preservatives. This ensures that the treat is suitable for a dog’s sensitive stomach.

With the South West Coast path close by plus Dawlish Warren, the Exe Estuary trail and the Powderham estate, guests will be spoilt for choice when planning their dog walks. A special exercise field is based on-site and with plenty of waste bins around, picking up after your dog is easy and convenient.

Cofton hosts a range of events throughout the year, one of which is the Crofton Dog Show. Hosted in July as part of Cofton’s annual American Car Show, the dog show gives four-legged friends an opportunity to strut their stuff and win a ribbon or two. All the money raised from the dog show goes to charity.

Helen Scott, Director of Cofton Holidays, is looking forward to welcoming dogs and their owners to the award-winning holiday park this year:

“Demand for dog-friendly holidays is on the rise, and we’re here to meet owners’ every need. Our modern cottages on the Eastdon Estate have always been extremely popular with our customers, so we are delighted to announce that three of them are now dog-friendly.

“As dog owners ourselves, we know that pets are an important family member. That’s why we’ve gone that extra mile to ensure Cofton is dog-friendly, not just dog-tolerant. Man’s best friend doesn’t have to be confined to the cottage either. Cofton is located in a glorious corner of Devon where there is so much to explore, whether that’s on Dawlish’s dog-friendly beach or on a day trip to nearby Dartmoor.”

The new dog-friendly cottages start from £640 per week for the two bedroom cottage. The three bedroom cottages start from £830 per week. Other dog-friendly accommodation is also available across Cofton’s range of holiday homes, camping and caravanning pitches. Mid-week breaks and weekend stays are also available. An additional supplement is required for each dog. For touring and camping, there is no charge for dogs during low and mid-season, but a charge will apply during high season. No charge will be applied for registered assistance dogs.

Guests visiting the multi-award winning holiday park can look forward to a host of on-site facilities including a heated indoor pool with a splash pad area and hydrotherapy loungers, a gym, restaurant, pub, steam room, sauna, fitness studio, soft play area, playground, sports wall, outdoor pools, five coarse fishing lakes and much more.

Based near the pretty coastline of South Devon, Cofton Holidays has recently been awarded Gold in the Holiday Park and Village of the Year category at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2018/19.
