Foodies invited to join in with Exmoor Food Fest

A FOOD festival designed to help showcase Exmoor’s top food producers takes place this month (February, 2018) and a restaurant in Bridgwater is backing the event. The River Parrett Restaurant will be joining other top, award-winning restaurants in the area offering specially priced menus during February 2018 to encourage diners to eat out as part of the Exmoor Food Fest.

John Kay, Head Chef at The River Parrett Restaurant, said: “We’re very excited to be part of the 2018 Exmoor Food Fest, which runs until February 28.

“It’s an event to showcase the very best the region has to offer diners and it is a celebration of all local produce and the culinary expertise we have here on our doorstep.”

The River Parrett Restaurant will be offering a special menu, alongside it’s other menus, as part of Exmoor Food Fest. The Exmoor Food Fest menu will be available during lunchtimes and evenings from Tuesdays to Thursdays, excluding Valentine’s Day, during February.

The special menu will feature two courses priced £15 and three courses £20.

The Exmoor Food Fest runs throughout February and is organised by Elke Winzer who is also behind Exmoor4all, an online platform for all things Exmoor related, including an online shop, and the Foodies invited to join in with Exmoor Food FestExmoor Markets.

Elke said: “The Exmoor Food Fest helps local businesses in the hospitality sector to show off their skills. The festival deals tempt many people into restaurants at a time of year when business tends to be slow.

“Diners can download and print off a voucher to present at their chosen participating restaurant to qualify for the offer.”

John added: “We like to celebrate the very best of the Westcountry with our dishes here all year round and go out of our way to source ingredients from Somerset. Our meat suppliers include the award-winning Pyne’s of Somerset here in Bridgwater and Croft Family Farm Butchers in Cannington. They both, like our other local suppliers of all sorts of produce, source from the wider area and, also, work with suppliers from The Quantocks and Exmoor.

“We’re keen to support as many local suppliers as possible and to help put the area on the map with regards its culinary heritage, and by participating in events like this, we’re hoping to raise awareness of the wonderful produce available to us all on our doorstep.”

The River Parrett Restaurant launched last November and will also have B&B rooms upstairs added at a later date.

It has a modern British brasserie feel, offering informal high-end food, with the focus on a quality customer experience.
